ClipToVocab Research
The research behind every reel you watch
We read the studies, look at how real learners use the app, and change it. Each page here takes one question and shows what we found, where it comes from, and what we changed.
Studies
What we have learned so far
One question per study, written for learners and teachers, not just researchers.
What keeps learners watching
Why one skipped reel leads to another, how long a learning moment should be, and how reels now follow one another so learning feels like watching, not work.
- Attention
- Vocabulary
- Feed design
- skipped the next reel after a quick skip
- 46%
- after a reel they kept
- 20%
More studies are on the way. Each one gets its own page here.
How we work
Research first, then the app
Learning English should feel like watching something you enjoy. To get there we lean on what is known about attention and memory, and we check our changes against how people really use the app.
-
Step 1
Read the research
Studies on attention, memory and language learning. We summarise what they found and link every one, so you can read it yourself.
-
Step 2
Watch how learners use the app
Anonymous patterns, like which reels get skipped and which get watched to the end. Early numbers are small, so we treat them as hints, not proof.
-
Step 3
Change the app, then check
Every change comes with a number to watch. When the numbers are in, the study page says what happened, good or bad.
-
Every claim has a source
If we lean on a study, it is linked where we use it.
-
Honest about small numbers
We say how many people a number comes from, and when it is too few to be sure.
-
No tricks to keep you hooked
You should keep watching because it is good and you are learning, never because you feel stuck.
